The Oxford Owners' Association was founded in May 2001 with a vibrant and enthusiastic committee, although there had been an Oxford Owners' Club for several years before that.

The Association has many aims and already has many achievements 'under its belt', and continues to strive to maintain its constitution, which is:

1. To maintain and serve the welfare of the greyhound throughout its racing and retired life.
2. To benefit the owner with a 'fair deal' and improved recognition.
3. To liaise with the management to support greyhound racing whilst encouraging ownership.

We campaigned for air-conditioned kennels and are now pleased to report that work is currently under way. A new/refurbished veterinary room in the paddock, the return of 645-metre racing and additional prize money is still being sought. . We have also been successfully involved in the installation of a curtain to prevent greyhounds lapping the track unnecessarily after the end of a race.

Graded greyhounds that win three, four and even five consecutive races are eligible for awards. Greyhounds nominated as Greyhound of the Month receive a special award accompanied by a meal for four persons in the restaurant on the night of the presentation, courtesy of Oxford Stadium. However, owners of these greyhounds must be registered members of the Oxford Owners' Association before they can be considered for any award.

The Association also supports the re-homing of retired greyhounds. We have already held extremely successful sponsored race meetings to raise funds for the re-homing program, and more fund raising events are scheduled.

Membership of the Association is £10 per annum for an individual member and £20 per annum for syndicates, renewable on 1st June each year. It is our strength in numbers that helps us in our continuing campaign for better conditions and improved racing facilities for greyhounds and owners alike, so your support would be appreciated.

If you are an owner at Oxford and not already a member and are interested in registering, forms are available from the Association literature rack in the Perth Pat bar or print the application form and send to the secretary.

We look forward to receiving your application and your valued support
