MINUTES of the AGM held on SUNDAY 8TH AUGUST 2004
at 18.30 hours at OXFORD STADIUM
The Annual General Meeting was opened by the Chairman Stuart Locke-Hart
who thanked those present for attending.
The total number of persons present were 10 these consisted of the Chairman
Stuart Locke-Hart - Treasurer John Alcock and Secretary Jenny Hebborn
together with 6 Members of which one was a Trainer and one a Kennelhand
also present was Paul Saxton who very kindly opened up the premises for
the AGM
It was the general consensus that although it was the time of the year
for holidays it was a very poor turn out by both Committee Members and
Owners in view of the fact that the AGM was advertised in the Race Card
- Oxford Mail and the O O A Board
The Chairman reported:-
a) That the Curtain placed at the pick up point would now be
operated by an employee of the Stadium at a cost to the GRA
b) The Running Rail has now been renewed all round the Track after
considerable insistence by the O O A
c) The problem of Flag Waving has been resolved and it is now
waived by the side of the Traps - although concern was raised
in respect of the dog in trap 6
d) The question of Prize Money - There has been no increase in
Prize Money for nearly 2 years - the GRA state the reason for this
is that the Track is not profitable
The Chairman stated that he intended to submit a letter for increase
of Prize Money of 10% for when budgets are made in September
e) The Chairman reported that difficulty was experienced with the lack
of a General Manager but problems could be directed to Clive Feltham
f) O O A Race Night Meeting the first Tuesday in the Month
The Chairman reported that he had obtained a sponsorship of
£1,200 from Ladbrokes this gave us an additional £100 Prize
Money
for 12 months which was open ONLY to members of the O O A
The Draw for the Race is made by a member of Management prior
to Racing on the night in question
The Chairman also advised that over the last three months the
Association had given everybody the opportunity to receive a trophy
members and non members in the hope that non members would join
Trophies are now only given to members who have joined by the 1st
of the month prior to the O O A Race Meeting
A list of Rules are now available for any Member a copy to be placed
in the O O A Cabinet
g) Hare Driving - All questions relating to the driving of the Hare were
very kindly answered by Paul Saxton
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul for his help
h) Race Commentary - We have tried to ensure that this continues
i) The Chairman thanked Sharon Hardy for all her help with our
arrangements and advertising
j) 645 Races and Hurdle Races - At this present time there is no sign
of
these returning as no Greyhounds are available - It would be up to the
Trainers to change this item
k) Cool Air System in Racing Kennels - This has been a vast improvement
but still not 100 %
l) All Trainers could obtain funds for a Cool Air System to be installed
in
Vans which is available totally free - All monies are fully refundable
m) The inconsistency of Upgrading and Downgrading was still an issue
and is still an ongoing problem that will be directed to the Racing
Office (via Bob Rowe)
n) BGRB
Welfare - Retired Greyhound Trust - Prize Money - Air Conditioning are
all concerns of the Board
The Money from the Board - BAGS - Bookmakers % Oxford had previously
received £52,000 but received £93,000 this year
o) The Treasurer reported that Funds stood at £5,503.35 as at 28th
May
2004
Donations of £1,000 had been made to the Oxford Branch of the RGT
And a sum of £500 had been made to Ann Shanon
p) Jenny Hebborn reported that Membership stands at 162 Members
Concern was expressed that not all Trainer encourage Owners to join
q) Re-Election of Officers
All Officers were prepared to stand for re-election
Stuart Locke-Hart - John Alock - Jenny Hebborn and Committee
Members were proposed by Barry Hebborn and seconded by Jim Flynn
u) Retired Greyhound Trust
The Oxford Representative Mel Hancox was not present as she was on
holiday - Number and details of Greyhounds homed were unavailable
The Chairman expressed thanks to Mel who to date had done very
well and was very dedicated to the Voluntary job that she did
r) A O B - Track Maintenance - Statistiscs
A question of Track Statistics was raised by a Member but it was
explained it was not possible because of the change of weather
conditions
The Meeting was brought to a close at 20.15 Hours
